Life Minus Technology
Ken was updating his comprter, downloading new editions
of software samples onto it. His mother had asked him to taste
her apple pie but he was busy. He didn't mean to offend her,but
he had things to do . Suddenly his computer's wires crashed
down from the wall, causing a bright flash. They had been in a
tube which was hanging on hooks. But the glue he had used was
still unset. Ken watched as the wires toppled down. The electricity
went out, darkening the light bulb above him. Ken got up from the mat he was sitting on.
The room had no windows and was as dark as a tunnel. He went to another room to get a
flashlight. As he entered, he heard a sound behind him. He whipped around and saw an
eagel sitting in a tree right outside the window. Flakes of snow started falling and the bird
flew away. The sight made him feel that life could be more interesting if he would just look
farther out his window from time to time.
Just then, the power came back. He went to his computer deleted the new software,
and ran downstairs for some tasty apple pie. He would try life minus technology for a while.
