因為原句是: One is called John and the other is called Tom.
省略中間重覆的部份 is called 而用逗號隔開

2 look very much alike 為什麼不能只有very一定要加much
alike 不是也是形容詞嗎
長得很像,總是要用一個 " 多" 來形容,長得像不像是屬於不可數名詞,所以要用 much , very 形容 much alike 是形容詞沒錯.
3 he likes to stay home reading and listening to music 是因為stay home 與
read 之間沒有連接詞才讓read變成reading的嗎?
那為什麼listen也能變成分詞而且listening和reading中間能有and?聽說這兩個詞
試作主詞補語, 難道不是缺連接詞的關係嗎)
還有一句I like to stay home watching tv 這是連接詞還是主詞補語的關係
原句也可寫成:
He likes staying home, reading and listening the the music.
也可以:
He likes to stay home, to read and to listen to the music.
與連接詞無關.
倒是對等連接詞and 如果有好幾項要連的時候,中間都加逗號只有最後的兩個要用 and
He likes apples, oranges, pipeapples, watermelons and strawberries.
He likes to stay home watching TV.
watching TV 是補語

這是一個compound sentence，後面平行對稱的部分is called可以省略，改以逗號標示．
2 look very much alike 為什麼不能只有very一定要加much
alike 不是也是形容詞嗎
寫成very alike也是正確的．參見＜遠東新世紀英漢辭典＞p.34 alike例句Their opinions are very alike.

不定詞to stay home是動詞likes的受詞．這句的動詞是及物動詞，所以不可能有主詞補語．
reading和listening是兩個動名詞，當作本句的受詞補語． To stay home is to read and to listen to music.
對等的分詞，所以用對等連接詞and連接．

還有一句I like to stay home watching tv 這是連接詞還是主詞補語的關係
同樣也是to stay home當動詞like的受詞．所以不會有主詞補語，主詞補語是連繫動詞（不完全不及物動詞）才會有的．watching TV是動名詞，當本句的受詞補語．

因為有時要加逗號但有時不用
which前加逗號表示非限定的形容詞子句，如：
Bob lost his brown bear, which was his favorite toy.（以toy為先行詞）
John made high grades on his exams, which made his parents happy.(這是sentential relative clause,以前面的整個句子為先行詞）
I read the book which Dr. Stone wrote.(which前沒有逗號時，表示形容詞子句為限定性質的，將先行詞的範圍縮小，以供辨認）

更正：第4題的reading與listening，watching TV等應視為〔分詞〕，而非〔動名詞〕．
應將其定位為當〔修飾語〕的〔分詞構句〕，因為其邏輯上的主詞是句子的主詞．是用來修飾〔述部〕，表示同時存在的狀況．本人一時不察，造成錯誤和偏差了．抱歉．
